Small Ball Comes to Tiny Teams

Hey Managers! Version 1.0.16 is live, and it brings a whole new way to scratch out runs. Bunting arrives with the new Small Ball talent, defenses learn how to answer it, and Chopper got rebuilt from the ground up with a real bounce.

Drop a Bunt With Small Ball

Small Ball, not to be confused with Smallball, is a new hitting talent for fast, high-contact hitters. They drop a first-pitch bunt down the line for an infield hit. Higher tiers place it tighter to the line and deaden it into the corner, so a good bunt beats the throw. And you will never bunt yourself into a hole: it comes off automatically with two strikes.

The Defense Answers Back

Bunt defense is real now. Corner infielders field most bunts, the pitcher takes them up the middle, and the catcher handles the ones dying at the plate. Picking a dead ball barehanded costs a beat, and that beat is exactly what a well-placed bunt is buying you.

If your division fills up with bunters, Pincher is the answer. This new fielding talent sends your infield and battery charging on bunts. A defense that invests in it can cut an elite bunter from 74% on base down to 41%.

Chopper Got Rebuilt

Chopper is now one talent that produces a towering chop off real ball-bounce physics, so you see the high hop in the replay and the runner legging it out. The four legacy zone Choppers are out of the pick-3 tree. If you already have one, you keep it.

All three talents are live in the Talent Codex, so you can scout Small Ball, Pincher, and the new Chopper before your next pick.

Pitch Counters Hit Harder

The pitch-specific counters roughly doubled on contact, and Extinguisher doubled too. They only fire against one pitch, so the payoff now matches how rarely you get it.

Around the Diamond

  • Your rank is one number again. Season, Playball, and Field Management now read RANK 7 · ELO 1240 instead of the old LEAGUE and TIER pair.
  • Dragging to reorder your batting lineup works on touch. The list no longer scroll-pans out from under your finger, and dragging to the top or bottom edge reaches slots that were off screen.
  • Selecting and swapping players in Field Management is smooth. No more waiting on the screen after every tap. This was worst on Android.
  • Synergy pips update against the lineup you are building, not the one you last saved.
  • Runners stop stealing once a late-inning game is already out of hand.
  • Replay fixes. No more fielders teleporting to the bag on unassisted putouts, or outfielders running in place before snapping to the ball.

Grab your fastest hitter and go lay one down the line. Play now and come tell us how it goes.

See you on the field, The Tiny Teams Baseball Team
